Since 2017, I have had over 2,400 conversations with women in business about money, power, and what technology actually owes us. These essays are where I work that thinking through in real time. Check Your Default Settings is where that thinking landed clearest.

Some are rough. Some have held up better than I expected. I have left them as they were written because watching the standards tighten in public is the point, not a side effect.

Extractive Capitalism Is Collapsing: The Generative Economy Has Entered the Chat

We are the visionaries, the early adopters, the system-refusers who know collapse is not the end. It is the invitation. Trickle-down, Reagan-inspired, neo-liberal money is dead. Versions of collaborative currency are what comes next. When women have what we need, everyone wins.

I've been interviewing women in business since 2017, and spent the last five years building the safest place on the internet for women. Extractive capitalism is collapsing mathematically. Women-led businesses are already building what comes next. That is not hope. That is the data.

Start with the end in mind, they say. But also keep iterating and resetting to the present moment at the same time. Is it possible to hold both at once? After some thought, I do not think either is mutually exclusive. Nobody handed us the infrastructure. We built it with whatever we had.
